With all the big changes made to the website recently, I really wanted to get out there and find an interesting Christian artist or business to feature. I wasn’t so sure where to start at first since it seemed like all eyes were focused on bigger businesses like Chick-fil-A or even charities such as The Salvation Army. The Rebel Christian has always focused on indie or self-published authors, I want to keep that theme running even in other forms of entertainment.

This week I found a Christian business that really inspired me; it may not be a household name yet but it is certainly on its way as the owner, Ameka Coleman, has made faith the base and foundation of her company—hair product line, Strands of Faith has no choice but to succeed!

If you would have asked me about featuring a natural hair company on TRC a few years back I would have asked if you were crazy. But now I realize the Body of Christ needs to stand together in all things now more than ever. It isn’t enough to just watch Christian movies or listen to Christian music. Our brothers and sisters are starting their own companies, businesses, and organizations—with social and political persecution rising faster than ever, it is vitally important for Believers to unite and support each other in every possible way. Prayer, donation, and spreading the word, these are all ways—budget friendly and free—that we can stand together.

I am always honored to feature a Christian author here on The Rebel Christian, but I am bursting with joy to feature a Christian business owner for the first time. Strands of Faith began in 2017 when God gave Ameka Coleman a vision to begin her own company and walk in her God-called purpose. Mrs. Coleman obeyed without hesitation—and its no surprise, Hebrews 11:1 KJV is the company’s motto, after all!

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Coleman didn’t have to see the finish line to begin Strands of Faith, all she needed was a word from God on where to start and now we have a company dedicated to glorifying and honoring God by encouraging women to know that their beauty is found within Him.

Isn’t that exciting? To see not a ministry, not a church, not a worship group or a charity, but to see something such as a hair company dedicated to sharing faith and beauty as one. We are God’s children, He thinks we are beautiful inside and out—and now Strands of Faith is here to help guide women, young and old, into that beauty all while experiencing the Grace of God.

On the SOF website you can find all the products Coleman offers; from cleansers to conditioners, deep treatments, and even clay washes and oil sealants. There are styling custards, and shampoo bars, twisting creams and even hair sprays—everything you’ll need for a full, relaxing day at a salon right there in your own bathroom!

Strands of Faith is centered on Christianity, but it also has a focus on curly hair, kinky hair, and black hair. As an African American woman with naturally curly hair, I can appreciate everything Mrs. Coleman has done on a personal level. Not only is she a Christian woman in charge of her own company, but she is representing a hair type that has been previously shunned, shamed, and even criticized by the media, the workplace, and society as a whole. I love my hair and I especially love my faith; I am so glad to have found a place that does not just appreciate but openly celebrates both.
