Love in Little Snow

Like any reviewer, I love working with authors on multiple books so I was definitely excited to feature another one of Hart’s stories on my blog. I really enjoyed her last book and this one did not disappoint!
Love in Little Snow is unrelated to Hart’s last book but the writing is just as good. This story is a short Christian romance for the Christmas season but the plot is relevant beyond the month of December and has a message for people of all faith systems—or none at all.
We start off examining the character, Bailey, a doctor who shares with readers how sad and depressed he feels despite it being the greatest time of year. That was one of the parts of the story I cherished most, even though this had a bit of heartbreak and moments that tugged at your heartstrings, Hart really highlighted the true purpose of Christmas and managed to portray that delightful time with just the right amount of joy. Her descriptions made me miss Christmas time and wish for snow. I think that’s a real compliment, considering it’s the end of May and upwards of 90 degrees where I’m from!
Bailey has experienced a deep loss and continues to lose as he is a doctor who recently had a patient pass on his surgery table. We see the raw emotion and depth of character development in Hart’s writing through Bailey’s thoughts and experiences. He explains that he doesn’t believe in love and has trouble even believing in God because of his hardships. I think his struggles are something that Christians around the globe can relate to, maybe non-believers as well. He has a question in the back of his mind, why does God let bad things happen to good people?
The girlfriend that Bailey lost returns to him in a vision and does a wonderful job at answering this question. I can’t say too much without giving you the story, but I will say that Bailey takes an emotional, psychological, and spiritual journey that enlightens himself and readers to the true love of Christ and Christmas. I truly enjoyed this short story and fell in love with the plot and characters. If you enjoy short-stories and romance, then this is the book for you. I think Christians will appreciate it the most, as it gives such a sweet demonstration of faith-filled love for family and others in a time of our most painful experiences. I can’t wait to re-read this story for Christmas.
